Religious Education

The purpose of the Religious Education program is to proclaim the "good news" that God loves us unconditionally. The program offers the best in contemporary catechesis for grades K-8. Each grade level receives a well-rounded education that includes doctrine, sacred scripture, liturgy and preparation for Sacraments.

A Religious Education booklet is available in the Church vestibule and at the program offices. A course outline for each grade level is shown along with other information about the activities of the program.

Liturgy of the Word for Children

Children ages 5 years and up who attend the 10:15 a.m. Mass on Sundays are invited by the priest-celebrant to leave after the opening prayer (before the Gospel) to hear the Gospel at their level. Teachers walk with them to O'Brien Hall (under the rectory) and meet with them to read, share and discuss the Gospel of the day. All the children return to their families for the remainder of the Liturgy. Children ages 5 and up remain in the Church for this day to hear the Word of God.

Adult Religious Education

Parents of children preparing for the Sacrament of Reconciliation and Eucharist attend five weekly evening classes for two hours at OLMC. The classes compliment the teachings offered for first communicants. Parents are encouraged to think about how they are living the Sacraments today.
